Rated Match Policy

On 15th March 2017, the UKBGF adopted its official results policy PDF, which is designed to establish a standard for the quality of results posted to this site.

The UKBGF policy is supplemented by local policies, which give club managers the freedom to define local rules that work for the way their events are run.

The manager for Lakes data on this site is Jonathan Kaye.

The local policy for Lakes is as follows:

All completed matches, whether forming a part of a scheduled tournament, or pre-arranged league matches played by members of the Lakes Backgammon Club, will contribute to individual players’ 'United kingdom Backgammon Federation' (UKBGF) ratings. However, non-results, such as walkovers, unfinished or postponed matches, or friendlies etc. will not be eligible for rating and will not be submitted.

The appointed manager of the Lakes Backgammon Club is responsible for accurately recording and submitting eligible match results to the UKBGF for inclusion.

Players may not choose their rated match opponents selectively, but must follow guidelines set by the manager to ensure fair play to all members of the club. All matches intended for inclusion in the rating list, must be pre-arranged between the players concerned and approved by the manager before play commences.

Postponed matches should be completed as soon as possible by arrangement between the players concerned and the result reported by both players.

Use of any artificial aids except a game-clock, is strictly prohibited for all rated tournament or league matches. This will preclude any form of online matches from permissibility due to the ubiquity of automatic pip count displays and other artificial aids/references readily available to players in a non 'face-to-face' environment.

The current UKBGF Rules apply to all rated matches played at the Lakes Backgammon Club.
