Rated Match Policy

On 15th March 2017, the UKBGF adopted its official results policy PDF, which is designed to establish a standard for the quality of results posted to this site.

The UKBGF policy is supplemented by local policies, which give club managers the freedom to define local rules that work for the way their events are run.

The manager for Surrey Heath data on this site is Stefan Paliwoda.

The local policy for Surrey Heath is as follows:

Surrey Heath Backgammon Rated Match Policy

All rated matches at Surrey Heath Backgammon will comply with the rating guidelines issues by the UKBGF.

Rated matches will only take place when 4 or more players are available. All players must agree that matches are rated before starting play for the session. Matches will be arranged by random draw. For 4-7 players a Round Robin format will be used. If 8 players turn up then a 3 round Swiss format may be used.

Incomplete Match Policy.

If matches cannot be completed by the time the venue (a public house) closes then the match should not be abandoned but recorded to be finished at the next convenient time. The following information should be recorded: Date; Player Names; Match score; Time left on clock for each player. If it is really not possible to finish a game the tournament director (TD) should take a photograph of the final position. All of this information will be recorded in an incomplete match register that will be maintained by the TD. The match should be resumed with the correct clock times and when completed, it should be recorded on the UKBGF website using the date the match is completed. Matches can be completed by mutual consent on club social nights or tournament nights.
